Abstract

This article analyzes the resources and skills of the "political armorers" based on an investigation of the Ministry of the Interior and its occupants from the return of democracy to 2007. It reconstructs the trajectories of its leading cadres and the way in which they founded practical learning and provided them with valued knowledge in the political world. It also details the main challenges that must be overcome by the occupants of the highest positions of this ministry of political intermediation that deals with what it calls "politics in lower case." Experts behind the scenes and in peer negotiation, the gaps to evaluate them inside and outside the political field are usually very marked. The article investigates the reasons for this decoupling and reflects on the centrality of this little visible and publicly valued political work to maintain the governance in democracy.
