Abstract

On March 31, 1738, the Prince of Prussia, Frederick, writes a letter to Voltaire, in which, among other things, he expresses his admiration for the Siècle of Louis XIV. He regrets, however, that the philosopher, in the part dedicated to the arts in Italy during the Renaissance, places Niccolò Machiavelli among the great men of his time.
